FTF # 103: My Singapore Food Street

I am working via blogger’s platform. I think that the latest WP version is not compatible with my old theme. When I changed it, I couldn’t find the image and the text. I could only see the text and image by highlighting the post and then clicking the preview  when it’s done. That’s the only time I could finally publish it.  I draft my post in blogger’s platform and paste it here. Such a lot of effort but I hope that it goes back to normal and I wish that it’s only my connection that never works normal and not my system. If anyone knows how to fix it, please help!

Okay, enough for the segue, here’s another food post for the start of February.  Hey,  time simply flew away! Where have all those days gone? Am I too busy not to notice the time or the time just  flew  by so fast?

Yesterday, after visiting and shopping at Grand Baby Fair (happening on February 1.2.3. at MEGATRADE HALL 2 & 3) soft opening, we went around the mall and before heading home, we decided to have our  dinner at My Singapore Food Street.   So, here are the photos last night. My daughter said  that the restaurant just had their soft opening that day too as posted.   Because Singapore is unusual unlike Chinese or Japanese, off  we tried and here’s what we ordered.

Charsiew Pork (roasted pork  marinated in tomato sauce and special spices)

Satay Chicken (grilled chicken marinated in special spices, ginger, lemongrass and onion.) Served with special sauce.  The sauce is tasty.  I could taste some curry flavorings.

Black Pepper Beef served with plain rice and scrambled egg

The food was great though I find the Satay a bit dry.  For hungry tummy and big eater,  one serving wouldn’t be enough. We did not order drinks because it was quite expensive, something like P80 -100 (more or less $2) for iced tea, so we settled for free cold water.  :)    We’re not used to soda and ice tea at home anyway.

Eat All You Can at Dulang Restaurant

Joyous Restaurant  is part of our itinerary as recommended by locals and reviewers  on the internet. I didn’t know about  the place but  I believed so that they serve yummy food.  It was already late when we checked out   from Las Casas  Filipinas de Acuzar  and  finding and dining  at   this restaurant   is  destined  not  to happen  that  day.

We saw Dulang Restaurant along the way and the banner “Eat-all-you-can”  caught  us that  made us dropped  by for lunch.

For the amount of P109,  you’ll get full with different choices of food.  Kare-kare, Kaldereta, Sinigang na Isda, Tinapa and more.

I couln’t believe it that I forgot to take the photos of the food at the restaurant.  I must be very hungry  that I forgot  my intention of  taking all the photos  for my  Food Trip Friday.

Dulang Restaurant is located at  Roman Super Hi-way, City of Balanga Bataan.  This is near Bataan Heroes College.  So the next time you get hungry near the  vicinity,  do drop by here and  experience their Eat-All-You-Can menu.

Food Trip Friday 74: Classic Savory

There may be lots of fast food chains or restaurants that offer chicken but nothing beats Savory Classic Chicken menu for me. Before this event, where BPI treated us for a lunch at Savory, the last time I dined in, I mean I had chicken was when I got a reward from SM Advantage Promo last year. For a single min purchase of P1,000, if I remember it right, one will get a Free Shanghai Rolls worth P175. When I went to Savory Classic to claim it, I was advised to order another menu and dine-in to avail it. I was disappointed because I was forced to order another menu from the list given. Okey, it’s another marketing strategy and I should be used to it already. Good thing, Savory Classic Chicken itself is a reward, so I never regret ordering one.

Here’s tempting menu from Savory Classic during BPI’s event. Honestly, I want to go on food trip again this weekend and try again other dishes.

Deep Fried Wanton
Garlic Spinach
Stir-fried spinach w/ loads of aromatic garlic
Sweet and Sour Pork
Deep-fried pork cubes in sweet and sour sauce, served w/ pineapple and peppers

Yang Chow Fried Rice

Classic Savory Chicken
Nido Soup w/ Quail Eggs
Chicken broth w/ mock bird’s nest and boiled quail eggs
my food plate with fried rice, classic chicken and creamy fish fillet..
another burping lunch at the event.. :)

Food Trip Friday #67: Tootsie’s Restaurant

Before heading home from Tagaytay Highlands, the Mendiola family treated us to another sumptuous dining at Totsie’s Restaurant located along J. Abad Santos Ave., corner Aguinaldo Highway. The restaurant is owned by Totsie as the name of restaurant implies, whom we’ve met that day as she was just around while we dined in.

Crispy Fried Chicken
Crispy Fried Vegetables
Adobo Flakes
Stuffed Inihaw na Bangus

Of the menu above, the Adobo Flakes seemed to be the most favorite of the kids that the Mendiola couples ordered another plate for it. I had a spoonful of the flakes and tasted it for my own review. True enough to make the kids bitin of this sumptuous meal. The taste is just perfect, not to salty or sour or sweet. Just perfect for the kids’ taste buds.

As usual, these were the last shots of my camera and did not even last to take the picture outside the restaurant to complete the post. The restaurant is so homey. The owner of the restaurant Totsie, said that they serve foods just like serving to their own family and treat diners as part of their family too.

Food Trip Friday #32: Lunch at Gerry’s Grill

Most restaurants at Bonifacio High offer European style. Since we craved for rice that lunchtime, we looked for another restaurant and headed to Market Market which is just few meters away from the workshop venue.

So Jes and I decided to have our lunch at Gerry’s Grill instead. We agreed to order the following; Crab Rice, Pinakbet and Lechon Kawali. Just for the crab rice alone, one can already have full meal. Lechon Kawali and Pinakbet are just too much to consume in one eating. We ordered two cold cans of softdrinks but my throat hurts so bad that day so I ordered a glass of warm water for myself. Thanks to the very accommodating staff who attended to us that day. The staff must be given full credit but I forgot to ask their names.

The Crab Rice
Pinakbet, served hot.

Lechon Kawali, served with Atsara and Garlic Flavored Vinegar. I actually wanted Grilled Liempo but we ended up with Lechon Kawali to match with our Pinakbet. It was very crispy and I love it although it was loaded with too much calories. I believe the vinegar sauce makes the calories disappeared. (Guilty! I was just trying to justify my diet here. =) I can do detox the following day, right?)

My plate. I think I had about 4x of this
I look slim here and this was taken before meal. I gained two pounds after. LOL.
Let me share you our Gerry’s Grill experience. The food was great. For the price of $15 (P650) tax and tip included, two persons can already have full meal. The ambiance is just perfect for my mood that day. For grilled food lovers, Gerry’s Grill is a perfect restaurant to visit. When we went inside the restaurant at around 12 noon, dining tables were all occupied. It was already past 1pm when we finished our huge meal. I tell you, we felt that our tummies were packed full until 5pm. We had fruit shake and shawarma before we headed home and that’s another story to share till next FTF.
